about

With its evocative lyrics, memorable chorus, and clarion - like trumpet accompaniment, “One by One”, herMajesty’s new single, may be the band’s most accessible song to date.

JP, the band’s principal member, came to the USA when he was eight, old enough to be influenced by the lyricism of Modern Greek poetry and classic Greek tragedy. Traces of these early inspirations can be heard and felt in the words and melody of “One by One” which begins with a children’s chorus.

“The motivation to use a children’s choir on the new single came from the idea that we are all struggling to come to grips with the promise of our youth and the reality of adulthood while maintaining a connection to the life affirming energy and sense of wonder of those early years” says JP.

“One by One” will be available through Itunes on January 20th, 2014 and included on herMajesty’s forthcoming EP.

lyrics

Pa, pa, pa, pa
pa, pa, pa, pa
pa, pa, pa

Gathered all our pictures
One by One
The dust is useless
Let me breathe.

Picked up all
Our shooting stars
Our promises
turned empty somehow.

Pa, pa, pa, pa
pa, pa, pa, pa
pa, pa, pa

Watched my breath
Crawl up the window
I could almost see
The path of its attack.

Quietly, we’ll be forgiven
For stirring up
The maker
of the dusk.

Pa, pa, pa, pa
pa, pa, pa, pa
pa, pa, pa

Gather up what’s said and done
We don’t have space for it anywhere
Gather up what’s said and done
We don’t have space for it anywhere.
